Glass Trail
By Margaret Lee
I walk on two bare feet
Down a winding trail
It is paved with shards of glass
My heels are bloodied
Each toe is sliced, torn, and raw
And my stride is abbreviate and agonizing
My struggle will go unnoticed
For emotions are dormant
This hides my pain well
I inch inch INCH forward
The nausia increases as I hear
Each blade of glass pierce my flesh
I wince
And continue
Right
Left
Right
Left
